Electrocomponents is the global distributor for engineers. With operations in 32 countries, we offer more than 500,000 products through the internet, catalogues and at trade counters to over one million customers, shipping around 44,000 parcels a day. Our products, sourced from 2,500 leading suppliers, include electronic components, electrical, automation and control, and test and measurement equipment, and engineering tools and consumables.
The business satisfies the small quantity needs of its customers who are typically electronics design engineers, machine and panel builders or maintenance engineers in business. A large number of high quality goods are stocked, which are despatched the same day that the order is received. The average customer order value is around £150 although the range of order values is wide. The Group’s customers come from a wide range of industry sectors with diverse product demands.
RS Components and Allied Electronics are the trading brands of Electrocomponents plc. The Group is listed on the London Stock Exchange and in the last financial year ended 31 March 2015 had revenues of £1.27bn.

Lindsley Ruth, Chief Executive Officer
Lindsley Ruth is Group Chief Executive of Electrocomponents. He joined the Group in April 2015. Prior to Electrocomponents, Lindsley was Executive Vice President of the Future Electronics Group of companies, the fourth largest electronics distributor in the world with a global turnover of over $5bn. He was a key member of the core leadership team which transformed the organisation’s performance and expanded its global reach.
Before joining Future in 2002, Lindsley held senior positions with TTI Inc and Solectron Corporation.
Lindsley has both a BSc in Engineering (Industrial Distribution) and a Masters in Business Administration from Texas A&M University.
Kurt Colehower, President, RS Private Label
Kurt Colehower is responsible for the RS Pro product range around the world. This includes growing the size and reach of the private label portfolio to further the benefits it offers to both customers and suppliers.
Kurt has extensive experience in developing and executing growth strategies and driving operational excellence in manufacturing and distribution in the industrial and technology sectors.
Before joining Electrocomponents in 2015, Kurt was Corporate Vice President and President of the Americas Components Group of Arrow Electronics, where he led the Americas region of Arrow’s Global Components business. This included responsibility for Arrow’s three global business units and the development and implementation of Arrow’s global internet strategy. He also held senior positions, including Senior Vice President and President, Europe, at Solectron Corporation.
Kurt holds an MA from Stanford University and an MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Klaus Göldenbot, President, RS Industrial
Klaus Göldenbot has global responsibility for RS Industrial, the industrial division of RS Components. Previously, he was Global Sales Director, responsible for building the Group’s sales and customer service organisation.
Klaus joined Electrocomponents in January 2001 as GM, Product Management for Europe and was swiftly promoted to GM, Product Management for the Group. In August 2002, Klaus was appointed GM, RS UK before being promoted to Regional General Manager, EMEA. In this role he was responsible for developing and implementing the ‘One Europe’ strategy, which enabled, amongst other key changes, a common marketing approach across the region.
Prior to joining Electrocomponents, Klaus spent nine years at Adolf Würth GmbH & Co., one of Germany’s top 30 companies, where he held senior positions in sales and marketing and strategic management.
Klaus is co-author of a number of business publications on the topics of ‘benchmarking’ and ‘CI’. He has a BA in European Business, English and French, and an MBA in Marketing and Management from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.
Klaus enjoys participating in equestrian sports. He has also written and published a number of books about ballet dance and used to host a talk show with international stars from the world of performing arts.
Ian Haslegrave, Company Secretary and General Counsel
Ian Haslegrave is Company Secretary and General Counsel at Electrocomponents. He has global responsibility for corporate governance covering the legal, risk, indirect procurement, pensions, and company secretarial functions.
Ian has driven several key initiatives across the Group and had a significant role in the changes to the Group's pension arrangements.
Prior to joining Electrocomponents in 2006, Ian was International Legal Director at Viacom Outdoor. Previously, he held senior positions at United Biscuits and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
Mikael Malm, Chief Supply Chain Officer
Mikael Malm is responsible for the ongoing development of the Group’s supply chain, ensuring Electrocomponents continues to leverage its global scale in a safe and sustainable way to provide customers with an industry-leading service.
Mikael has over 25 years’ experience in global sales, manufacturing, supply chain and sourcing, incorporating general management, operations and strategic development across a range of multinational companies. Before joining Electrocomponents, he was Chief Operation Officer and Executive Vice President at Efore Oyj, a leading company developing and manufacturing customised and standard power products for electronics.
Previously, Mikael was Director Supply Chain Management at Huawei, Head of Sourcing and Supply at Ericsson Saudi Arabia and General Manager of Consilium Fire & Gas Production.
Paul Quested, Chief Corporate Development Officer
Paul Quested is Chief Corporate Development Officer for Electrocomponents. He has responsibility for developing, planning, supporting and driving the delivery of the Group’s business strategy. This includes aligning the organisation and facilitating transformation across the business through strategic planning, change management and governance.
Paul was previously Global Strategy Director and before this General Manager for RS UK, where he was responsible for maintaining UK profitability. He joined RS Components in January 2007 as Head of Finance.
Prior to RS, Paul held a number of positions during his 10 year tenure at InBev, including PPM Director reporting to the Supply Chain Vice-President Western Europe. Prior to this he was the Audit Manager of FTSE 100 companies at Coopers & Lybrand.
Alexander von Schirmeister, Chief Innovation Officer
Alexander von Schirmeister is responsible for both Digital and IT across Electrocomponents, with a primary remit to further enhance and grow the company’s eCommerce offering to ensure customers have a world-class online experience, while ensuring the technology platform continues evolving at pace for the business needs of the future.
Alexander has wide-ranging digital and international experience. He spent ten years in senior management positions at eBay, culminating in Vice President of eBay EMEA, and has deep knowledge of working in complex global digital environments, understanding online customers and how to meet their rapidly changing needs through technology and innovation.
He joined eBay in 2004 as Marketing Director, based in Paris, before becoming General Manager for eBay France and then CMO eBay in Europe. During his time he was a key contributor to eBay's conversion from a C2C auction site to a multichannel marketplace for brands and retailers.
Prior to eBay, he held roles at Telefonica in Madrid, Booz Allen & Hamilton in London, and Procter & Gamble in Mexico.
Alexander has a Bachelor of Science in International Business from Georgetown University and an MBA from INSEAD.
Ian Watson, Chief HR Officer
Ian Watson is Chief HR Officer at Electrocomponents. HR’s vision is to create the conditions for high performance in the business. Ian holds responsibility for building an effective organisation and ensuring the business has the right skills and culture it needs to deliver the Group strategy.
Ian joined Electrocomponents in 2004 as General Manager HR and was responsible for reward, leadership and organisation development. Ian has led a major culture change across the Group through the introduction of global behaviours, underpinned by performance management and reward structures. He led the global reorganisation of the company in 2012.
Before joining Electrocomponents, Ian held senior roles with Vodafone plc, including General Manager Vodafone Scotland, Business Integration Director, responsible for integrating key acquisitions, and HR Director Sales and Distribution. Prior to this, Ian was HR Director for the Thomas Cook Group, a worldwide travel business.
Ian holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Leeds University. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
